  • Why do you use rapeseed wax for your candles and not other waxes?

We have chosen to use organic European rapeseed wax as the base for our scented and decorative candles because, according to our in-depth studies on the subject, it offers the best balance between burn time, burn quality, fragrance diffusion, and environmental respect.

Indeed, our rapeseed wax is guaranteed GMO-free and organically grown, meaning it is cultivated without harmful substances. This ensures the healthiest possible burn for your home, which is essential for us. Furthermore, rapeseed cultivation is much less intensive than soy wax or other waxes (palm, sunflower, etc.) and does not travel across the world to reach your candles, making it an eco-responsible raw material.

  • What fragrances do you use for your candles?

We have exclusively developed all our fragrances with a renowned perfumer to perfectly match our identity and wishes: noble raw materials, fragrances that transport you and, above all, are as close as possible to real scents. All this without being overpowering or causing discomfort in your home.

Moreover, our fragrances are produced by an independent French niche perfumer, renowned for their rigor in selecting raw materials, their cutting-edge production technology, and their strict adherence to regulations.

  • Why "Maison OAOA" French Riviera?

As avid travelers and nature lovers, we were particularly struck by our stay in Polynesia, especially the islands of Tahiti and Moorea. The energies we felt there and the connection of the local population with nature, both fauna and flora, deeply touched us and instilled a profound sense of well-being and happiness.

When we started our journey as artisanal candlemakers, it was clear that we wanted to transmit these same energies of well-being and happiness through our products, while respecting nature as much as possible. The term "OaOa," which means "Happiness" in Polynesian, had already caught our attention during our Polynesian trip, and we wanted, as a nod, to use it in our brand while connecting it to the French Riviera, where we live and work.

  • How to properly use/burn my candle?

Candles are wonderful decorative and olfactory objects. For your candles to diffuse their fragrances correctly, not burn too quickly or unevenly, and for you to enjoy them to the fullest, there are a few guidelines to follow.

You will find a lot of useful information summarized in pictograms and on the bottom of our scented candle boxes, under the containers, or glued under our decorative candles.

We have also provided detailed safety and usage instructions on our page: Candles and Safety

Basic safety principles:

- No drafts

- Not near flammable objects (curtains, tablecloths, fabrics, paper, flammable liquids...)

- Do not leave burning unsupervised

- Always use a holder for your candles (especially decorative candles)

For a good candle burn:

- When lighting your candle for the first time, let the melted wax reach the edge of your container (at least 2 hours of burning).

- Always trim your wick to about 0.5cm in length, preferably with a wick trimmer or sharp scissors, to avoid excessively large flames which will cause excessive smoke, burn your fragrance too intensely, and consume your candle too quickly.

- Do not burn for more than 3 hours at a time

- Do not leave your candles in direct sunlight, even behind a window; they risk melting or being damaged.

  • When my candle burns, I have bubbles or cracks in the wax, is this normal?

Each candle is poured by hand with the greatest care in our workshop, and we meticulously check the final result of each candle to guarantee you the most perfect product possible. Our candles are handcrafted, and therefore each candle is unique, so there may be slight differences depending on the product.

Temperatures and the use of your candles can affect their appearance, burning, or create imperfections. Nothing alarming; we have several techniques to help you correct these minor issues.

To find a suitable solution to your problem, please contact us, and we will give you our expert advice to best enjoy your candle.

Rapeseed wax is sensitive to temperatures and easily traps air bubbles. For this reason, sometimes air bubbles may be released into the wax during burning. This poses no risk and does not alter the quality of your candle. After a few seconds or minutes, they will disappear, and you should not have them during subsequent burns.

Sometimes, when the wax dries after using your candle, cracks may appear in the wax (especially during thermal shock, more often in winter or in cool rooms). Nothing alarming, but to avoid uneven burning or the formation of "craters," we advise you to briefly use a hairdryer over the entire surface of your candle to level the wax and fill these cracks.

For any other technical questions, we are available to explain what to do.
